What are RAL Gütezeichen (Quality Marks)?

From pipe supports through to site-built tanks or family sofas through to the roof on your own home: Consumers and companies are today able to select from a multitude of products and services. Yet how do they find something that works reliably, complies with the latest technical standards and is environmentally compatible from amongst this abundance of products and services?
RAL Gütezeichen (Quality Marks) provide guidance in this area. They indicate a particularly high level of quality and provide manufacturers with the opportunity to stand out from the crowd.

RAL Gütezeichen (Quality Marks) – indicate a high level of quality

RAL Gütezeichen (Quality Marks) identify those products and services that are manufactured or provided according to high and precisely defined quality criteria by companies. RAL determines the requirements for the relevant quality mark in each group of products or services during an approval procedure. It includes manufacturers and suppliers, the trade and consumers, testing institutions and associations in this process.
The product and performance-specific quality criteria comprise all aspects that are important and sensible for the use of the product or service. They are published by RAL and made accessible to everybody.
These quality marks are awarded to manufacturers and service providers by the RAL approved Quality Assurace Associations. These companies must prove that they fulfil the relevant Quality Assurance and Test Specifications in the initial approval test. They are subsequently obligated to constantly self-regulate the fulfilment of these specifications and additionally submit themselves to monitoring carried out by an independent testing institute.

RAL Gütezeichen (Quality Marks) – guidance for customers

RAL Gütezeichen (Quality Marks) make it easier for consumers and purchasing departments to search for reliable, high-quality products and services. The quality marks can be found, for example, in the construction sector, as well as in the services sector and the agricultural and food industries. More than 9,000 companies use this labelling system in order to be able to offer particularly high quality products and services. This demonstrates the diversity of RAL Gütezeichen (Quality Marks).

There are currently about 150 quality marks, which provide a label of quality for many thousands of products or are used by service providers – irrespective of whether consumers are building their own home or companies are acquiring services. Customers can trust in RAL Gütezeichen (Quality Marks): They receive:

high quality at a reasonable price,
competent advice
and carefully delivered products and services.
